
Join our AI Agents Platform team as a Senior or Staff Backend Engineer to build a large-scale, highly reliable platform powering vertical AI agents. You'll own core services, design robust APIs, and drive performance and reliability for systems that deploy autonomous agents revolutionizing an industry.This role demands a product-minded engineer passionate about scalable, high-performance distributed systems and thriving in a fast-paced startup environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own core backend services including agent runtime for tool execution, state management, orchestration, retries, idempotency, and rate limiting
- Design robust, well-versioned APIs and contracts for internal and external use, including webhook and event interfaces plus integration adapters
- Model complex domain data with schemas and access patterns supporting agent memory, workflow history, audit trails, permissions, and multi-tenant isolation
- Implement and maintain high-quality integrations such as OAuth, webhooks, sync engines, and connectors with strong observability and failure handling
- Optimize platform performance and costs through throughput and latency improvements, queue management, caching, storage efficiency, and inference cost controls
- Drive reliability engineering by defining SLIs and SLOs, implementing end-to-end tracing, safety rails like timeouts and circuit breakers, and handling incident response
- Raise engineering standards via code quality improvements, testing strategies, on-call processes, runbooks, postmortems, and team mentoring
6+ years of backend software engineering experience, with more for staff-level roles
Experience building and scaling production AI/ML platforms or products
Background in fast-paced, high-growth startup environments
Proven backend fundamentals in distributed systems, concurrency, queues and workers, caching, and production operations
Ability to design clear, evolvable APIs and contracts across services and external partners
Experience with multi-step, autonomous agent systems
Proactive and autonomous mindset, able to execute complex processes and thrive in ambiguity
