Seeking a Director of Engineering to serve as the technical backbone for an early-stage startup building conversational AI products. This is a hands-on founding role with significant equity upside and a direct path to engineering leadership as the company scales from beta to paid users.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ship full-stack features across web applications, AI interviewer systems, and conversational AI experiences end-to-end
- Build and refine agentic workflows, memory retrieval systems, and voice-driven AI interactions
- Evaluate and manage a small engineering team while setting technical direction
- Collaborate directly with founders on product vision, architecture decisions, and platform scaling
- Establish engineering quality standards, testing practices, and scalable technical foundation
6+ years of full-stack engineering experience
Experience building products from 0 to 1, ideally at an early-stage startup
Hands-on experience shipping consumer-facing AI products to real users
Hands-on building experience with AI/ML, LLMs, RAG, and agentic workflows
Full-stack development expertise with cloud infrastructure experience
Product-minded approach with understanding of user experience and emotional product quality
