About the role

This role focuses on developing and optimizing manufacturing processes for fabricated metal products, components, and assemblies. The position applies lean manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques to increase efficiency, quality, and productivity while ensuring processes meet safety and ergonomic standards. The engineer will also support new product introductions, capital equipment decisions, and facility-related projects.

Key Responsibilities:
- Maximize efficiency and quality of existing production lines using value stream mapping and engineering principles
- Collaborate with product designers to ensure new products are designed for manufacturability
- Lead equipment and facility projects from planning through execution
- Develop work instructions, sequences of operation, and production documentation
- Train production associates on new or modified processes
- Estimate production costs and develop manufacturing plans for new or modified products
- Determine production capacities and manpower requirements by department and product family
- Identify production problems and implement improvements to increase shop efficiency
- Work with maintenance to ensure processes are reliable and available when needed
- Review safety concerns and verify all processes meet OSHA regulations

Requirements

BS in Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent field
Minimum five years of experience in a manufacturing facility, preferably metal fabrication
In-depth experience implementing lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
Experience with Six Sigma, preferably Green Belt or Black Belt trained
High aptitude for problem solving and troubleshooting
Experience managing facility-related activities
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and ERP systems
Willingness to travel domestically 25-50%
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
