
Founding HR Generalist role at a fast-scaling AI startup. This is a greenfield opportunity to build the HR function from scratch as the first dedicated HR hire, with full ownership of the employee lifecycle and the ability to shape scalable processes as the company grows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the full employee lifecycle including onboarding, offboarding, role changes, offer letters, and employment documentation
- Maintain HRIS platform accuracy and serve as the internal owner for all HR systems and processes
- Apply California employment law knowledge to handle employee transitions, terminations, and compliance matters
- Manage benefits administration including health plans, 401k, and broker relationships while partnering with Finance on payroll accuracy
- Build trust across teams in the first 30 to 60 days, then introduce structured onboarding and performance review cycles
4 plus years of experience in HR generalist or people operations roles
Experience at venture-backed technology startups
Strong knowledge of California employment law
Ability to work independently in a greenfield HR environment
