We are looking for a Founding Engineer with 2+ years of experience to join as one of the first engineers at an early-stage AI startup building a platform for data reliability on systems of record. You'll work directly with leadership to build the platform from scratch, talk directly to customers, and have massive ownership over product and architecture decisions.
What will you be doing?
Building the core platform from scratch with full ownership over architecture and product decisions.
Interfacing directly with customers to understand their problems, gather feedback, and design solutions.
Shipping features end-to-end (backend-heavy with some frontend) that non-technical users can actually use.
Using AI-native development tools (Cursor, Claude Code, Codex) extensively to write production code.
Helping define the product roadmap and engineering culture as one of the first hires.
Stack centers on Python for backend and React/Next.js for frontend, with AI/LLM tooling in the mix.
- 1-10 years of experience in backend or full-stack engineering
- Experience at high-bar startups or companies
- Built customer-facing products, not just internal tools or infrastructure
- Prior founding or 0-to-1 experience: built something from scratch
- AI-native developer who actively uses AI coding tools (Cursor, Claude Code, Codex) and has opinions on them
- Strong backend engineering with good architecture sense and design judgment
- Mainly Python for backend; React/Next.js for frontend
- Some front-end ability and UI/UX sensibility for building usable features for non-technical users
- Can communicate with non-technical customers, understand their problems, and design solutions independently
- Smart, ambitious, with strong engineering judgment
- CS degree or equivalent technical degree; top CS university is a plus (e.g., Waterloo, Berkeley, MIT, Stanford)
- Skills prioritized over years of experience
