Seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own mechanical subsystems end-to-end for a next-generation robotic platform. The role requires a production-driven engineer who has taken designs from concept through CAD, prototyping, supplier qualification, and production release. This position is critical at a small, fast-moving team where end-to-end ownership and hands-on execution are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the full design cycle of mechanical subsystems from concept and requirements through CAD, prototyping, supplier qualification, first-article inspection, and production release
- Drive DFM/DFA from day one, working with suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure designs transition smoothly from lab to volume production
- Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, firmware, and controls engineers on electromechanical integration
- Manage vendor relationships and supply chain interactions for hardware components
- Conduct structured validation testing, root cause analysis on failures, and drive corrective actions through to closure
5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, taking designs from prototype to production release
Has shipped at least one product to production, not just prototyped
Experience in consumer electronics, automotive, medical devices, or industrial automation
Worked with suppliers on qualification, first-article inspection, and manufacturing ramp
Expert 3D CAD proficiency with SolidWorks, NX, CATIA, or Onshape
GD&T, DFM/DFA, and tolerance stack-up analysis experience
Actuator/transmission design experience including harmonic, planetary, or cycloidal
Comfortable owning subsystems end-to-end in a small team environment
