Seeking a Senior Embedded Systems Engineer with 5+ years of experience to own the firmware and embedded software stack for general-purpose robots. This role sits at the intersection of hardware and software, developing motor control firmware, sensor interfaces, real-time communication infrastructure, and reliable embedded systems for physical robots.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing motor control firmware, sensor drivers, communication protocols, and hardware abstraction layers for general-purpose robots
- Owning hardware bring-up by writing low-level peripheral drivers, validating new PCBs, and debugging firmware and hardware boundary issues
- Implementing and optimizing motor control algorithms including torque, velocity, and position loops on bare-metal and RTOS platforms
- Developing and maintaining real-time communication stacks including EtherCAT, CAN, SPI, I2C, and UART
- Contributing to firmware safety architecture, establishing coding standards, and building CI/CD and hardware-in-the-loop test infrastructure
5+ years of experience in embedded firmware development in C/C++ with production-deployed product experience
Motor control firmware or actuator firmware experience including FOC, torque control, or similar on bare-metal or RTOS platforms
Industry experience in robotics, automotive, industrial automation, or consumer electronics
Experience scaling firmware from prototype to production deployment
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, ECE, or related field
Strong C/C++ skills for bare-metal and RTOS environments including ARM Cortex-M, TI C2000, or similar MCU families
Communication protocols at driver level including EtherCAT, CAN, SPI, I2C, UART
Hardware bring-up experience with JTAG, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers
