This Design Engineer will create detailed designs and modifications for mechanical tooling and progressive dies. The role converts customer requirements into efficient, manufacturable tooling solutions while exercising independent judgment and providing technical guidance to the team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed designs, redesigns and modifications of parts, assemblies and mechanical tooling
- Convert customer requirements into workable tooling designs and determine the most efficient manufacturing methods
- Perform CAD programming work including tolerance dimensions, drafting standards and calculations
- Create and distribute all necessary shop drawings, instructions and design documentation
- Utilize independent problem-solving skills and technical experience to complete design tasks
- Provide technical guidance and verify accuracy of detail layouts and design work of others
- Operate with minimal supervision while maintaining high quality standards
Minimum of 2 years technical CAD training or equivalent work experience
Plus 2 years of CAD and design work experience
3 to 5 years of SolidWorks experience
Knowledge and ability to utilize general drafting standards in making CAD designs
Knowledge of various machining and manufacturing processes
Strong leadership potential
Preferred:
Knowledge of forming and progressive tooling
Experience in a tooling or precision manufacturing environment
Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
