About the role

This Shipping Supervisor role leads outbound logistics operations for a growing manufacturing organization. The position is responsible for developing transportation demand and capacity plans, optimizing freight routing, and driving cost improvements across multiple facilities and contract manufacturers. This is a key leadership role that combines hands-on team supervision with strategic logistics analysis to ensure efficient, on-time product delivery while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develops transportation demand and capacity plans while creating network models to determine optimal modes and freight requirements
- Analyzes routes daily using TMS optimizer, merge-in-transit, and pool point methodologies to drive cost savings and efficiency
- Negotiates favorable freight rates with carriers and serves as subject matter expert for logistics software systems
- Leads optimization initiatives across company and contract manufacturer facilities while developing performance metrics and reports
- Delegates work to shipping team, coordinates daily activities, and maintains accountability for quality and productivity
- Oversees carrier scheduling, safe loading procedures, freight claims, and on-time delivery reporting
- Investigates logistics issues, identifies root causes, and implements corrective solutions
- Maintains a safe work environment by recognizing hazards and enforcing proper safety protocols

Requirements

Associate degree or equivalent combined with minimum five years of experience in logistics or transportation management
Minimum two years of direct supervision or proven leadership experience
Strong analytical skills with ability to assemble data, analyze performance, and develop actionable recommendations
Thorough understanding of transportation tariff pricing structures across all modes
Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
Self-starter capable of working independently while fostering cross-functional collaboration

Preferred:
Prior experience working with contract manufacturers on freight optimization
Background in developing cost-saving measurements and using metrics to drive operational change
Experience training teams on transportation processes and procedures
Demonstrated success leading process improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment
