
We are looking for a Senior Power Electronics Engineer with 3+ years of experience to design and own power systems and power electronics boards for advanced flight vehicles. You'll join a small, elite avionics team where engineers personally make hardware work, not just manage requirements or provide oversight. This is a high-impact role where you'll own meaningful subsystems on the vehicle, from initial design through bring-up, debug, validation, and integration into production. Defense experience is not required: we value hands-on circuit design talent from aerospace, automotive, robotics, or any hardware-rich environment.
What will you be doing?
Designing power electronics PCBAs including motor controllers, DC-DC converters, inverters, power switches, and power distribution systems for current and future flight vehicles.
Owning the full lifecycle of your hardware, from schematic design through bring-up, debug, validation, and production integration.
Defining your own requirements and figuring out the overall power system story in a system context (no separate systems engineers: you own it end-to-end).
Working on high voltage and high current power systems for actuators, power filtering, and power bus sizing for mission-critical avionics.
Potentially supporting ground systems power electronics alongside flight hardware development.
- 3-15 years of experience in power electronics design: motor controllers, DC-DC converters, or power distribution PCBAs
- Hands-on power electronics PCBA design through bring-up and validation
- Experience at a fast-paced startup or high-ownership environment (e.g., aerospace, defense tech, automotive/robotics startups)
- Flight hardware or high-reliability systems experience (aerospace, defense, automotive)
- Power electronics circuit design: motor controllers, inverters, DC-DC converters, power distribution
- PCB design experience using Altium or equivalent
- Circuit simulation tools (SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink)
- High ownership: personally drives hardware from design through production, not just requirements or oversight
- Strong fundamentals in electrical hardware; key areas include power electronics, digital/high-speed hardware, mixed signal/analog, RF, and PCB design
- Tools: Altium, embedded hardware (MCUs, ARM)
- BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field
