Senior engineers own the design, delivery, and reliability of complex parts of our platform. You will lead the architecture of new solutions, solve our hardest technical problems, and set the quality bar, increasingly by directing AI coding agents and reviewing their work as rigorously as you would review a teammate's. You will mentor other engineers, shape our technical direction, and partner with product and cross-functional teams to make sure what we build serves the business. Deep fundamentals matter more in this role, not less: you cannot safely review what an agent produces if you do not deeply understand the systems underneath it.
Primary responsibilities include leading the technical design and implementation of major initiatives and product features that meet critical business requirements; authoring technical designs for large projects and applications; providing guidance on the business case for pursuing technical changes; managing complex systems and architectures with performance, scale, and reliability planned from the start; and identifying the business impact of technical change while leading others across the organization in mitigating it.

This is a full-time direct hire role, remote across the United States and Canada (PST preferred). Not open to visa sponsorship. Tech environment includes Node.js, TypeScript, React, distributed systems, messaging (e.g. RabbitMQ, Kafka), microservices, APIs, relational and non-relational databases, CI/CD, NestJS, Nx, and AWS.
- 5 - 15 years of experience in backend-heavy, product-minded software engineering
- Growth-stage company background, ideally Series C+, or Series A/B with strong enterprise traction
- Experience on high-scale, data-heavy platforms (ideally EDI or similar B2B integration)
- Experience designing or building authentication and authorization systems (SSO, OAuth, RBAC)
- Experience building with AI and shipping production work using coding agents
- Distributed systems/messaging experience (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar)
- Expert knowledge of Node.js and TypeScript
- Has owned the technical design of a major system or product area end-to-end
- Product-minded strong communicator
- Able to work remote in the US or Canada (PST preferred)
