We are looking for an Engineering Manager, Enterprise Cloud Deployments with 5-12 years of experience who has run bring-your-own-cloud (BYOC) deployments before. You'll take a small, very capable cloud team and give it structure as the company signs full deployments with Fortune 100 pharma companies. Your team is what gets the company's AI research platform running inside the world's largest research organizations.
What will you be doing?
Manage and grow the existing 4-engineer cloud team, including mentoring, career development and hiring
Own the technical decisions, strategy and delivery for secure BYOC deployments inside big pharma clients' AWS and GCP environments
Bring in lightweight structure, like documentation, repeatable playbooks and scalable processes, so deployments no longer depend on one person's late nights
Own client conversations about deployments and onboarding, with occasional travel (most on-site work can go to your reports)
Work with the forward deployed, research and product teams to set timelines and agree on requirements for active engagements
- Experience at high-growth tech, AI-native, or biotech companies (Stripe, Databricks, Ramp, Netflix, Verily, FAANG)
- 5-15 years of experience as an Engineering Manager managing infrastructure, platform, enterprise cloud deployments, or SRE engineering teams
- Hands-on infrastructure-as-code experience (Terraform, Pulumi or Crossplane) and GitOps workflows
- Strong hands-on fullstack or backend-leaning engineering skills (Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, modern frontend frameworks, infrastructure tooling)
- Systems architecture and API design experience (distributed systems, data modeling, cloud infrastructure, production operations)
- Understanding of application network architecture (VPCs, DNS, secrets, proxies)
- Experience in both individual contribution and managerial roles, able to push code and build a team
- BS in CS or STEM-related field
