An established precision metal components manufacturer serving the heavy truck and automotive supply chain is hiring a Quality Manager for a direct-hire, onsite role in Allentown, PA. The company produces machined iron and aluminum castings, engine components, and subassemblies and has a long track record in precision manufacturing.
This role leads the QA function with 4-8 direct reports, including quality engineers and inspectors. A near-term priority is stabilizing and strengthening the quality system ahead of an upcoming IATF 16949 audit.
Responsibilities include owning the QMS (IATF 16949), PPAP, APQP, root cause and corrective action (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone), SPC, scrap/rework/PPM metrics, supplier performance, internal and external audits, MRB, and quality training. The Quality Manager is the primary customer and supplier quality contact, with frequent phone and Teams communication and limited travel.
Base compensation is paired with bonus potential. Relocation is negotiable; local candidates are preferred. Machining or IATF experience is required (both ideal); automotive, off-highway, or precision machining backgrounds are also relevant.
- Bachelor's in Engineering, Quality, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5-7+ years quality management in machining, casting, or automotive manufacturing
- Experience managing people and customer/supplier relationships
- Strong working knowledge of IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, and SPC
- Machining or IATF experience required (both ideal); automotive, off-highway, or precision machining backgrounds OK
- Preferred: CQE or Six Sigma, supplier quality management, MSA/DOE, ISO 14001
