We are looking for a Staff Full-Stack Engineer with 6-10 years of experience to help build the AI-native application layer at the center of a chemistry-native scientific platform. Scientists at some of the world's largest materials and chemical companies use this product every day to design, run and analyze their R&D. We're merging our legacy system of record with our agentic AI system so that humans and AI work together in the same interface. We want an AI-native builder who owns the full stack, from the data model and backend APIs to the frontend and user experience, and who doesn't want to be limited to frontend or backend work. What will you be doing?
Building the next generation of the core application end to end (data model, TypeScript/NestJS backend, React frontend), so that both the AI and the user can work in it.
Making every UI element agent-operable: building dynamic views that agents can fill in, add recommendations to, and walk scientists through, with input requested only when the agent needs it.
Connecting the system-of-record product (formulation, synthesis, master data management, admin, and the new Process Dev vertical) with the agentic AI layer in a GxP environment.
Designing scalable, enterprise-grade systems with permission-based access control (ACLs), zero-downtime scaling and migrations with no data loss across DynamoDB, Databricks and Python Flask services.
Owning features from spec to iteration with product, design and customers, while setting the standard for AI-driven development practices on the team.
- 6 to 10 years of experience as a full-stack engineer, ideally in AI product environments
- Must be able to work across the stack, from backend data models to frontend user experience
- Must-have skills: React, Node.js, TypeScript, interfacing with Python Flask, DynamoDB, Databricks
- Full-stack development experience across React, TypeScript, and Python (Node.js, NestJS, or Flask)
- Experience building AI products in production (streaming, agentic systems, evals, or retrieval)
- Experience with agentic UI generation (dynamic interfaces composed by agents)
- Experience owning end-to-end product delivery (specs, architecture, delivery, and iteration)
- Experience at high-growth or top-tier technology companies preferred
- Eager to own full-stack responsibilities, not limited to frontend or backend only
- Passion for science and working with critical scientific users; strong academic background preferred
