We are looking for a Chief of Staff with 9-10+ years of experience to serve as a strategic right-hand to the CEO at a fast-scaling, AI-native insurance company with strong run-rate growth that is rapidly expanding into multiple new businesses. You will take ownership of the most critical cross-functional problems, drive new growth initiatives, and position yourself to eventually own a P&L.
What will you be doing?
Owning and driving the most critical cross-functional projects across multiple business lines: identifying bottlenecks, solving ambiguous problems, and delivering outcomes.
Serving as a thought partner to the CEO on new growth opportunities, potentially quarterbacking and launching new businesses or verticals.
Designing and scaling operating rhythms across the company: business reviews, data and insights cadences, and board storytelling.
Working directly with business unit leaders to spot patterns, remove blockers, and accelerate growth.
Traveling 10-30% of the time to other offices and key meetings alongside the CEO.
This venture-backed insurance technology company is applying AI and data to modernize commercial insurance operations, underwriting, and risk insights. It is in a high-growth phase with substantial institutional backing and a mandate to expand into new businesses and verticals. The environment favors high-ownership operators who want a path toward P&L leadership rather than a purely administrative chief of staff seat.
This is an on-site role in San Francisco, five days per week in office. Competitive equity is part of the package. Open to qualified visa transfers.
- 9-10+ years of experience with a strong foundation (MBB consulting, banking, or similar demanding environment) AND operating experience at a high-growth, venture-backed startup (Series B-D stage)
- Demonstrated fast progression and high ownership; not a career coordinator or project manager
- Self-directed operator who thrives with limited direction and can work across senior stakeholders with executive presence
- AI-native mindset: actively builds tools and automations using AI, not just prompting
- Has built something 0-to-1 inside a Series B-D startup (new business line, market, or product), not only run existing operations
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills; can parse data, build models, and drive decisions independently
- Motivated by a path to P&L ownership or launching a new business unit
- Must be based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco (5 days in-office)
- Competitive equity
- 100% employer-paid medical
- 401k match
- Direct partnership with the CEO on high-impact strategic initiatives
- Designed as a launchpad toward dedicated P&L ownership
