Join a high-growth health tech team as a Senior Backend Engineer, designing and maintaining external-facing APIs that major clients rely on for seamless integrations. You'll own critical platform components, building scalable data pipelines for health records, wearables, labs, and EHR data in a fast-paced, greenfield environment. This role offers high ownership from day one, shaping the backend architecture to support evolving enterprise partnerships and client needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and evolve external APIs and embedded product layers with disciplined versioning and enterprise-grade stability for healthcare clients
- Own platform primitives on the integrations team, ingesting, reconciling, and exposing wearable, medication, lab, and EHR data
- Collaborate with enterprise partners' engineering teams to build and maintain embedded integrations
- Develop core data models unifying structured health records, unstructured inputs, and high-frequency time-series signals
- Build pluggable ingestion frameworks to normalize third-party data into canonical internal models
- Shape backend architecture to adapt to new integration patterns and client requirements
5-12 years of experience building production backend systems, ideally at high-growth startups
Experience designing and maintaining external-facing/public APIs used by customers or partners
Owned foundational data models that scaled at a company
Zero-to-one experience at a startup or on new projects/teams at large companies
Proficiency with relational databases like PostgreSQL, queuing systems, and distributed systems
Experience with TypeScript/Node.js
High ownership with ability to independently deliver end-to-end features
Strong written communication and proactive timeline management
Preferred:
Experience in healthcare or health tech
Strong data modeling instincts, particularly with health data, time-series, or high-frequency signals
Enterprise integrations or partner onboarding experience
Founding engineer or ex-founder background
CS degree from a strong university, or equivalent strong company experience
